Biography of H.E. Mr. Md. Golam Sarwar, Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia
Career Summary:
Ambassador Mr. Md. Golam Sarwar is a career diplomat, joined Bangladesh Civil Service (Foreign Affairs) in 1991. During his over 30 years of services with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Bangladesh, he served in different capacities at home and abroad. He served in the Ministry as an Assistant Secretary (1991-1996), as Director/ Deputy Chief of Protocol (2002-2005) and Director General (South East Asia) from 2010-2013. He also served in the Bangladesh Missions abroad as Second Secretary in Yangon, Myanmar (1996-1997), First Secretary in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (1997-2000), Counsellor in Kathmandu, Nepal (2000-2002), Counsellor (2005-2006) & Minister (2006-2008) in Washington, D.C, USA. He also served as Consul General in the Consulate General of Bangladesh, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (2008-2010), Ambassador of Bangladesh to Sweden (with concurrently accredited to Denmark, Norway, Finland and Iceland: (2013-2017) and Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Sultanate of Oman (2017-2020). Presently he is serving as High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Malaysia (since December 2020).
Education:
Mr. Md. Golam Sarwar has obtained the degree of Master of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He also completed Article Studentship with a leading Chartered Accountants and Management Consultant Firm under the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh-ICAB (1987-1991).
Professional training:
Among the local professional trainings, he attended Civil Services Foundation Course in the Bangladesh Public Administrative Training Academy (BPATC) in Savar, Dhaka (1993) and Foreign Service Training Course in B. C. S (Administration) Academy in Dhaka , Bangladesh (1992). Moreover, he participated in overseas training -Advance Course on Diplomacy in Berlin, Germany with scholarship from the German Foundation for International Development (1995) and Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies (NESA), Washington, DC, U.S.A. (2004).
Personal information:
Mr. Sarwar was born in Noakhali, Bangladesh on 01 July 1966. He married to Ms. Taslima and blessed with two sons Reshad and Tahmid. He has interest in Travelling and Sports and passion for Migrant Workers' Affairs.
